A short review on Jamie Beeden lecture...

Jamie Beeden has worked for 15 years as an assistant and photographer. He first spent 3 years working for Ranking when he was an up and coming photographer and managed through him to have images submitted into Dazed and Confused magazine. He now works as a freelance photographer shooting for record companies and recently more editorial and exhibiting.
During the lecture he showed us 6 images from his website which hi-lighted what could be achieved in different amounts of time. Some shoots he has all day to take and others he had only a few minutes. I found it very interesting seeing how good a quality image could be produced in such a small amount of time (which all inevitably comes down to practice and knowledge) I also found it interesting learning about how to talk to clients and see what they want and having back up ideas in case what you originally planned fails or the client is uncomfortable doing it.
Overall I found the lecture very insightful as to what it would be like working as a commercial photographer. Even though it is not a path I wish to take, I managed to still gain some valuable tips from it.
